2023 Go! Bag Essentials
“Hey! Ow!
Push it good!
Oooh, baby, baby
Baby, baby
Oooh, baby, baby
Ba-baby, baby
Push it good
Push it real good
Ah, push it
Ah, push it”
Salt-N-Pepa Push it
I never got the opportunity to have a vaginal delivery, but had this song ready in my Go! Delivery apple music playlist as motivation. I’m pretty sure it is on many other advanced maternal aged pregnant ladies playlist too. Besides a great delivery playlist, the next thing to prepare for the delivery is the Go! Bag. Here are some of the essentials that I brought with me for my second delivery.
Your favorite robe, right after delivery the nurses will be checking on you around the clock so even with the gown a robe that feels like home will at least make you feel all less naked.
Button Up pajamas and nursing tanks, once you’re out of the patient gown a nice pair of button up pajamas and a nursing tank will help ease you into your postpartum body. You do not want to wear anything constricting on your boobies. I honestly still wear nursing tanks today cause they’re so much more comfier than bras.
Compression Socks are a must especially if you deliver via c-section, the best thing that helped me on my road to recovery. It got the blood circulating in my legs very quickly and the swelling reduced significantly quicker this time around than when I had the twins. I was walking within 24 hours after my delivery with these socks on.
Warm shoes because it can be so cold with the ac circulating and air purifying systems in the hospital. Plus you got to have some water proof shoes for the hospital showers, I’m sure they thoroughly clean it, but it’s also for safety for you so you don’t slip in shower while you’re trying to recover and regain strength in your legs.
The haaka and ladybug are my faves for any breastfeeding mama. I am fortunate to be an over producer, the ladybug collects my milk from the other boob my daughter is not drinking from. I’m basically a leaky faucet, and because of my milk production I tend to get clogs which are not so fun that could potentially lead to mastitis. With the help of the haaka, I’ve been very fortunate not to have mastitis.
Travel breastfeeding pillow, this came in clutch helping me breastfeed with the IV’s in my veins I needed the support of the pillow to allow me to feed. I did use all the pillows the hospital provided me so if is space is limited this can be omitted.
Lastly a nerf gun, I wish I had one because my husband is a very deep sleeper especially when he is exhausted. He once slept through a routine teeth cleaning. The dentist had to put one of those clear mouth guards on him because he was out like a log. Which was the same at the hospital, our daughter was crying and because I had limited mobility I couldn’t get to her or him. He eventually did wake up cause he heard me trying to get out of my bed to get our daughter.
